The Women of Words Illustrated mural showcases writing by women from local women’s refuges, captured during workshops with Valise Noire Storytelling Theatre. With prose often pertaining to the natural world, the illustration features wildlife and flora found in the Dorset area, and aims to convey the sensitivity and strength of the female authors through it.
Funded by BEAF Arts Co, the mural began touring BCP libraries in June 2021, moving from Boscombe to Kinson, Branksome, Broadstone and Creekmoor in Dorset.
Postcards were designed and printed for distribution at BCP women's refuges in order to offer a memoir of the project and to further share their voices.
"It was an easeful and joyful process collaborating with Corrianna. Corrianna was adept at understanding the multi-faceted brief and was able to create an exhibition piece that met multiple specific artistic needs, and also spoke to a variety of audiences.
We were in awe of how she so skilfully captured the message and meanings of the project in such a vibrant way, incorporating so much into the rich illustration, whilst also keeping the piece stylistically clean and clear for maximum impact and engagement.
Corrianna went above and beyond in coordinating the logistical aspects of the printing and displaying of the artwork and accompanying panel, all the while communicating with Valise Noire clearly. At a busy time, we really appreciated Corrianna’s thorough organisation, her inspired creativity and vision.
Thank you, Corrianna! We highly recommend you to any creatives who wish to collaborate with you, it truly was a pleasure!"
